McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary & Crematory, Santa Fe
Preston “Pres” and Bette McGee established Memorial Chapel Mortuary on Shelby an Alameda Street in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1942. It operated there until moving to 1320 Luisa Street in 1956. In 1984, their son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sheridan McGee, bought the funeral home from his parents. They changed the funeral home name to McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary. In 1985, seeing an increase in cremation, the first crematory retort in Northern New Mexico. This retort was put in the funeral home facility. This purchase increased service to the families who wished this type of service. The Alderwoods Group purchased the funeral home several years later and has owned it ever since. Larry McGee has continued the family tradition as the location manager at McGee Memorial. He is assisted by the staff, Michael Sisneros and Elaine Gallegos. McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary & Crematory is known for their exceptional service to their community.
